Schuh Anlagentechnik delivers oil mist separators to SMS for Hindalco
Hilchenbach – December 2023
As part of the collaboration between SMS and Hindalco, SMS has chosen for the oil mist
separators of Schuh Anlagentechnik Series KK.
The KK series of oil mist separators consist of oil-tight welded steel sheet housing, drainage tray,
drain connection, as well as maintenance and cleaning doors. Schuh Anlagentechnik's oil mist
separators utilize the effects of inertia, barrier effect, and diffusion to enable efficient droplet
separation and serve as efficient pre-filters for the Airwash™ system, which cleans the exhaust air
and recovers rolling oil for economical and ecological reuse.
The completion of the entire plant is planned for the first quarter of 2024. The first coils will be
produced at the new aluminum cold rolling mill by the end of 2024.
With the new cold rolling mill, Hindalco will be able to serve the packaging, beverage can,
construction, and construction industries. The new SMS cold rolling mill, with working widths of up
to 2,200 mm, is a key component of the largest downstream aluminum project in India. The plant
will be located on the outskirts of Hindalco's Aditya Aluminum unit in Lapanga, Odisha, India. The
facility is near another FRP division of Hindalco in Hirakud, where a hot rolling mill is already in
operation.

facility will enable Hindalco to serve the packaging, beverage can, construction, and construction
industries and is the largest downstream aluminum project in India.
